Funny what can trigger a memory or a thought.
I happened to find myself over at North Ryde in Sydney on the weekend. Was wandering the streets and saw a (presumably old/abandoned) construction area. It was more overcast than on the day I took the picture.
Possibly assisted by the elevation of the road, the steep sides, and the swampy basin, this really reminded me of 'Yantar' in 'Shadow of Chernobyl'.

There are a few little 'ponds' down there. No snorks fortunately.
This is in a hilly but otherwise fairly regular industrial estate. Backs onto some national park/reserve.
