[ update: started 2020-02-10 finished 2020-03-06... less than a month! ]
It would certainly be fair to also state that it's a bit slap-dash in places. Hardly my finest work, but... [shrug] it's done and it's shiny as all f...
Pic above taken by a gaming compadre at our recent event. I did a show and tell as they look nicer in person then in the photos. Wasn't in a position to run this particular army at the event though.
Everything pretty much went to plan. Stands, painting, finishing, yeah, no real surprises now days.
The only thing i might end up making in the future is a specific supreme commander character. I won't be making an Emperor, but there's an alternate character available on the current army list (Valdor) that i might end up making, along with his retinue squad.
I actually started with the bases this time around so the skimmers would have something stable to sit on as i painted them. Ended up using short lengths of bamboo skewers for the stalks. They're strong and the models sit low enough so they're not visible unless you specifically look, i.e. table-grade.
Undercoat of black. Then base coat of leadbelcher...
I was pretty slack finishing off the undersides of the models and several had left over nobbles from the printer support.
For some reason this reminds me of Daleks... dunno why.
Everything got a wash of the yellow contrast paint. Then a Dry brush of gold. Then cleaned up the leadbelcher, which then got a null oil wash.
Onto the red. I really should get a new bottle of mephiston red instead of water-colouring with my crusty old bottle remnants. Don't know why i've persisted with this one bottle for so long now but the Custodes will be its final project.
And that's that. Done!
Note sure when they'll get a run on the table but i think they should be suitably fun.
Another army in a timezone far, far away...
I posted up a couple of pics on the international Epic group. The guy whose guardian model i remixed got in touch and he's also making up an army (WIP pic below). He's actually using the remix variations i did too, which is a super-fun development.
[later: and i'm noticing he's using 3 models per base... which is even more spacious... and making me question my own format... aaaaaaaaah!]
It's great when the community grows projects organically like this - building inspiration of each other's works. Am looking forward to seeing what he ends up with.
And Another...
Another post from the same group, but a different maker.
This one actually has 5 models per base without looking too crowded - model selection i guess. i like the red pauldrons, maybe i should have done those... oh well.
Anyway, bloody fantastic to see ones work being used and hopefully appreciated elsewhere.
Update 2020-06-19
It felt wrong not to have a commander-type unit in the box. In my flurry of printing this month i quickly chop-shopped some models together and printed one off.
This is just a preliminary start to painting. Had some extra guardians in the bitz box so he had a body-guard. I probably could run this as the 'Valdor' character on the army list, though i believe his formation is meant to all be power-axe guys.
Anyway, it's mainly so the army has (visibly) a leader.

Painting fairly standard. Good enough for arms length.
Update 2020-08-07
Got these bad boys a proper box. Plenty of room to spare but (doing what i do) i kind of mapped out some other units i could build to fill that space if i got bored enough.
Quite a stack growing there. BT, DG and custards. Not that i didn't spend as much time and effort working on the filaments armies, but i'm happy to put these armies into good bags given they're kind of the 'end game' goal pieces.Got these bad boys a proper box. Update 2022-03-15
All my completed resin armies are getting sets of their official faction dice...
Seems to be something I'm doing.
Until next time...
